If it's all the same to you, I don't want to have this conversation in the middle of crankville...

So, it's round about 2 am on a Saturday night...

As much as i'd llike to talk about my demons and what not at this hour, i'd prefer something a little lighter. Not so much towards fluff, but lighter and less introverted than what i'm used to.

"Hey, you left some chinese looking shit out here..."

Watching the Salton Sea, which i so wisely just rescued from J's desk. Wouldn't want such a precious little screen gem lost amongst the stacks. Infact, by all considerations, it's got a damned fine shot of making the top 5.

It's mighty difficult to pick a favorite movie, well hell really a favorite anything, especially those categories with many a selection. Of recent, we the gentlemen of 9Ge, have been making references to our personal Top 5's. Not that any of use have sat down and actually compiled a list of them, it's more so just a sort of grading scale. As percentiles seem cold and meaningless, it seems classier to suggest "Well, i couldn't call it a top 5, but it's got a shot at the top 10"... So, hell, lets take a shot...

Top 5 Movies of All Time... According to Steve....
In no particular order, just numbered for organizational purposes...

Donnie Darko : An obvious favorite of anyone who has seen it, excluding of course the daft... An honestly original film, with it's own cult classic following. Jake Gyllenhaal plays the main character, and quite noteable at that. You'll watch it, it'll haunt you, and still you'll watch it again... Looking for minor details, asking more questions, etc...

The Salton Sea : Being as i'm currently watching it, theres a damned good chance I enjoyed it. Val Kilmer is the lead, being as he usually picks decent roles for himself, there is little chance you'd be let down by his performance. It's a pretty cool concept, put together well, some really great writing, all wrapped into a great story... Pay attention to the wicked tattoo on Val, it's hard to miss...

Boondock Saints : Filling the badass irish action movies requiste of every top 5 list... It's honestly been a while since i've watched this movie, but vivid images of some of the best action sequences ever recorded still pop into my mind at will. I'd recently caught wind of a sequel, and i honestly almost shat myself. I don't know anyone that has ever watched this movie, and didn't just friggin LOVE it.

American Beauty : First, Kevin Spacey is the man. Undeniably. A great original idea, dark and desperate. How can you not love the main character, in the begining he's weak and desperate... Until he gives in, and refuses to be held down any longer. I guess there are some brownie points involved cause Spacey's a friend of a friend and what not, but still, the final scene where they give all the different perspectives on what had just occured was amazing. This is actually the film that inspired me to start collecting Nazi China...

Almost Famous : A loving tribute to the long lost artform of rock and roll, Cameron Crowe's ALMOST FAMOUS is a jubilant celebration of the artists, their muses, and those who stand back in the shadows with pen and paper and watch it all unfold. It would be tough to find a better, more genuine film this year. I don't know what honestly drew me in so much, but this film just sort of grips you, and toys jokingly with your testicles... Or something...

FiN!

I did want to mention last evening briefly. As it were, Blair finally graduated from college, congratulations and what not. So, it was time for an eccletic celebration of dance. There was obviously a party, over at the Sigma Tai house. Pretty decent get together, 2 kegs (Fosters & Killians) and a live band. Large crowd also, and not the sausage ridden get togethers we've all become so accustomed to. The women seemed a bit young though, like 17-18... Which is visually pleasing and all, but not quite... Moral?

Anywho, it just served as a reminder as to how much I hate the whole pub/club scene. You couldn't buy a decent fucking conversation, everyone all hammered and talking the usual madness. Just kind of disgusted me really, not that i'm above all of that, but i wasn't heavy into the booze that evening. I just want to find someone who plays on a level close to my own...

Thats the lot from me at the moment, i need some sleep.
